Carbon Emission

Slightly different to the above in that it refers to Carbon in isolation. It is possible to convert one to the other as the carbon atom in CO2 makes up 27% of its mass.

So the carbon emission is always 27% of the carbon dioxide emission. It is important to distinguish between the two to avoid confusion.

To convert CO2 to carbon emission – multiply by 0.27:
 e.g. 100kg x 0.27 = 27kg

To convert carbon to CO2 emission – multiply by 3.7:
 e.g. 100kg x 3.7 = 370kg
