I have used heat pumps for many years both in my business and privately - I can strongly recommend it - it saves a lot of energy and with few years 5 or 10 you have saved what you originally spent on the system - on top of the heat you avoid moist and there is always a good fresh climate in the house - the drawback is the noise if it's placed next to a television and your hearing is bad - a good idea is to place it in a hall and leave the doors open - I would think the heat-pump would be ideal for UK because the climate is a bit warmer than in Denmark and it heats best with 7 to 10 degrees. In the Summer you can use it as an air conditioner however I would not recommend that because then you would use some of the electricity you have saved during the winter - remember to put a little roof on the outside bit because in the winter it might freeze and get icy if the temperature is about zero and below. When you buy the heat pump remember to tell the electrician to install a heat pipe on the outdoor bit so it does not get ice and freeze - then it will be useless.
