Quaternary Period
A period of geological history stretching from 2.58 million years ago to the present. It represents the time that the Earth was inhabited by recognisable forms of humans and is split into two sections (epochs) called the Pleistocene (an ice age) and the Holocene. The climatic patterns and cycles of this period are often compared to modern data to attempt to predict future trends.
