Alternative fuel fleet
You might have been thinking about introducing electrical and biodiesel vehicles but are unsure about how to approach this.
If you are drive less then 50 miles a day, and especially in an urban environment, then you might be better off with an electrical car. The main reasons are.
- Electrical cars have fewer moving parts and require less maintenance
- Your corporate image is improved (even with a gwiz)
- In London electric cars are exempt of the Congestion Charge (annual CC is £1696)
Does my electrical car use the same amount of energy and emit the same carbon dioxide when you consider that the energy is generated somewhere and if you take everything into consideration, like making the car, disposal of the battery?
Answer:
Yes, this is true and the RAC can confirm this. However, for our transformation from fossil fuel to electrical power, we need a transitional period. In the future electricity will eliminate this problem.
If you drive more then 50 miles a day you might be considering a biodiesel car. The main reasons are
- Same price as normal diesel
- Can improve your corporate image
- Lower road tax
Question:
Does biofuel displace food production?
Answer:
Yes it does, the move towards biofuel is displacing global food production, however promising algae technology will drive production of fuel in the future thereby releasing farmland back to food production.
