This is the way it works. Electricity is generated using alternative and carbon neutral sources such as windmills. This electricity is added to the grid. You buy electricity from the grid and take out what the windmill put in. Currently the only companies doing so in 2010 are.

	45%-100%	Ecotricity, a specialist in wind-power, has its own array of wind-turbines which generate the electricity customers buy. If you have the top up option, the rest is bought on the open electricity market *Invests into UK infrastructure
	41%	GreenEnergy supply around 41% energy from alternative energy, such as wind power. The rest is made from natural gas bought on the open electricity market
